Lesson Learned: Take a Break!
Hi folks. Well, I did it. I drove solo coast to coast. Well almost. I started in PA instead of the NJ shore and I technically have not put eyes on the Pacific Ocean yet this trip, but for all practical purposes, I'll call it a coast to coast trip.
I arrived at Pasadena on Saturday, which is in the midst of an incredible heat wave. It's been great to reconnect with two of my nephews, brother, and sister-in-law. One nephew left for college before I got here but the other two are still here.
The plans from here are to head out on Tuesday, spend a day in or near Joshua Tree National Park and camp, if it's going to be cooler. However, if it's going to be as HOT as it is today, forget about it!
In the meantime, Andrew, Janna, and I had a pleasant couple of days together. We did some fun things, checked out a few museums, and did a self-guided tour of the LA Central library. We ate well and basically relaxed, which seemed to be just what I needed.
