I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm really excited about this trip. I leave tomorrow morning...early! The car is nearly packed!
I'll be driving a Volkswagen Tiguan. It's roomy, but still good on gas. I tricked out the cargo area with a sleeping platform, so I can crash there any time I feel tired. The platform also gives me a boatload of storage space underneath. I have a tent as well, for times when I want to hit a campground for the night. I'd like to say that I'll camp 100% of the time, but I suspect they'll be some Motel 6 nights here and there.
I've decided to push pretty hard day one and get to Ohio. My reasoning is that future trips within Pennsylvania would relatively easy to do in a day or a weekend, but I'm not sure how likely it will be for me to visit some places further west again.
I'm eager to test out my tent and camp stove and get into the rhythm of set up/take down. My tent is a dome tent, so it should go up and down quickly. Other than that I will have a fold-up camp chair, folding table, and a portable blue tooth speaker.
Below are some pics of the car and me wearing my "WANDERLUST" t-shirt made for me by my friend Katie Matarazzo. Can't think of anything more appropriate to wear along the way.
Wish me luck! I'll check in tomorrow from the Buckeye State!
